The usually inspirited and boring gymnasium had been literally been transformed overnight. Actually, less than overnight. When the redhead and brunette had last seen it at the end of school, only four measly hours ago, it had been as bland and boring as always. Now, standing in the doorway, looking at the flashing, glittering lights and the balloons floating up above tables set where bleachers were usually pulled out, and banners pinned up to decorate the walls, they could hardly believe that this was even a part of their school. Turning to look down at the midget she claimed as her cousin, Chari poked Shayne in the shoulder, nodding toward the gym. “I feel sorry for whoever had to set this up.” she murmured, shooting a glance out of the corner of her eye to the teacher behind them who had just accepted their tickets.

“So do- I love this song!” Oh, right, Shayne had had strawberries on the salad that was with her dinner. So she was going to be hyper most of the night. Great. Literally bouncing on the balls of her feet, the midget grabbed the brunette’s wrist and dragged her into the gym, out onto the dance floor, where a few of the other early arrivals were milling about. ‘Probably too chicken to actually dance.’ she thought bitterly, rolling her green eyes as she took both of Chari-la’s hands and, despite the fact that the other girl was holding a purse, and started to dance. Laughing, Chari shook her head. “You’re insane when we give you strawberries, you know that?” Shayne just smiled innocently, and the light and angle was just right to remind Chari that she’d made a huge mistake in letting her cousin borrow her strawberry lip gloss. Ugh, this was going to continue all friggin night!

Detaching herself from her cousin’s grip, Chari wandered a little distance away, looking around to see if there was anyone here she recognized yet. So far, there was no one, other than Shayne who was hopefully wasting some of her added hyper energy on the dance floor. A hyper Shayne is never a good one. She didn’t even know how she’d managed to get her to wear a skirt to homecoming, let alone reasonable shoes. Oh, right, she’d had to literally lock her in the room, and then tackle her, and then had to find time to put on her own white halter dress while Steph did the strawberry-addict’s hair and make-up. Good times. Craning her neck to see over the heads of the people steadily filling up the space around her, she could just make out the faces of the people walking through the doorway. More people she didn’t know. What was it with all the people she didn’t know!? This was Forks High! So tiny that it’s not even funny! Yelping as she was, once again, grabbed by the wrist, Chari was spun around to face a beaming Shayne, who mainly just cocked her head to the side with a great big smile on her face. The expression very obviously stated that she was wondering, in her hyper kind of way, where the hell Chari had gone off to and what she was doing.

“I was looking for people we knew. Like Josh-la, or Anna-wa. Any familiar face would be nice, actually.”She motioned behind her to all of the people who she assumed were freshmen, and therefore were very unfamiliar to the two seventeen year olds. What seventeen-year-old hangs out with a fourteen-year-old, anyways? She hadn’t even noticed the music was playing until it faded, meaning the song had ended, and a new song stated, causing Shayne to go into a fresh fit of hyperness, tugging on Chari’s arm and whining to go on the dance floor. “Please Chari-la? I don’t wanna go alone! You said it yourself! There’s no one out there that we know!”Leave it to Metro Station to make the brunette give in and go dance with her cousin. If anyone wanted to find her that desperately, it wouldn’t be all that hard. She did, after all, have her cell phone with her, and it’s not like there were a thousand people here.
