This is the beginning of your new life, just as it is for Bella Swan. Everyone who comes to this small, dreary town has to see the same sign, and realize how small 3,120 really is compared to the countless number of trees in the forest that engulfs the Olympic Peninsula. But what happens in Forks isn’t all sunshine and rainbows, nope. It’s just like everywhere else in the world; it has drama, mystery, cliques, rivalries, and hardships.

Stupid, stupid girls night. Annabelle and a couple of friends went to the general store, but a wheelbarel full of junk food and ate, talked about guys, and ate more, did I mention they talked about guys? Ugh, it was such a constant thing -- like a broken record player. "Why don't you tell him?" or "You should tell him!" or "You know, he might feel the same way about you, but if you never tell him, you'll never know." Unfortunately, the third was always the one that did her in. They were right, if she didn't tell him, she'd never know. It was like sick karma. But did she really want to know? Well, depending on the answer yes, but otherwise... Anyway, back to the eating junk food part! Right, well, they all had their massive share of junk food. Her friends were going to the gym today. Annabelle, found that it was a total waste of money if it was a nice day. Fortunately for her, it was a nice day today -- the sun shining bright and proud, it made it so much easier for her. Was there a reason for doing this? Well, no, but yeah. Because of the massive amounts of candy they inhaled, she needed to burn the calories some way. No, she wasn't one to watch her weight and care about how many calories were in a granola bar, she just ate a lot of candy and really, really needs to stay fit for sports.
So, her day began as she got up extremely early and put her hiking boots on. Who the hell has hiking boots? Well, hikers. Except she's not a hiker. Know where near. Last christmas, when her mom died, her dad thought that she'd go into some trauma, not talk to anyone, and so on. He wanted to spend as much time possible with her. So he bought them both some hiking boots and gear and promised to spend more time with her. Fortunately, though, Anna didn't see the point in going into the trauma stage. Where was it going to get her? Obviously know where. So there the boots sat, in the entry closet for months and months, never even been touched. Today is a day where she can look forward to an orchard of blisters while she try's to break her boots in.
Now she was out somewhere, no map, no guides. Just her human instincts. What was the worst she could run into? An irratable grizzly? She snorted to herself. As if, what were the chances she'd run into anything that could do any harm to her? Well... she does have really bad luck. Like honestly, somehow, she wandered off a dock. She's gotten a hockey stick jambed into her head and was taken to the hospital where the ever-so-charming Dr. Cullen helped her. She's walked into four parked cars last summer, got hit by one, and has been knocked off the top of the pyramid in cheerleading. But then again... would you call that bad luck or flat-out stupidity? Sighing, she continued her walk through the forest, tripping over half the roots on the ground, not to mention her own feet.
The tree's started to thin out, little by little, and she started to see an opening to the meadow. She's came here before, of course, with Josh. It was like their little thinking place, or just a nice place to spend away from the town and just hang out. The memory made her smile. Clearing a branch away to make way for herself, she stepped over another root, and into the clearing, only to trip over another and hit her head on a stump. Smooth Anna, real smooth. Her hands were now beneath her for support as she lifted her dizzy head up, only to see a very short girl standing across the meadow, backing away slowly into the tree's. Even with her blurred vision, she still seemed to make out that she had short, spiky black hair. Could that be? No, of course not. It wasn't Alice Cullen from back in school, that's just stupid, why would she be out here? Anna looked at her, trying to steady her vision, there was about ten feat between the girl and the forest. Before she could even blink, she was gone. Almost as if she vanished into thin air. Annabelle shook her head slowly back and forth. "Must be a concution" She muttered to herself, getting up. She was still a little bit dizzy but managed to walk to the middle of the clearing and sit down, crossing her legs. Suddenly, she heard a branch snap and her head instinctively looked over to where the noise came from. She couldn't see anything, but whatever -- or whoever it was was still somewhere in the tree's. "Hello?" She called out gently. "Is anyone there?"

Why was he in the woods? ‘I don’t know.’ Talon growled under his breath, raking his fingers through his black hair, probably pulling out a few more strands than were supposed to come out with the simple action. Apparently, the whole not being able to lie thing applied to questions he asked himself, too. Not even questions he asked himself out loud, even! It was times like this that he really wished he could sever his vocal chords so he wouldn’t have to worry about anything slipping out that he didn’t want to. Dealing with the honest truth in his head he could handle, but having to deal with the frustrating feeling of trying to keep from blurting something out was like staring at someone eating your favorite food when you haven’t eaten since breakfast the day before for a human. You just want to give in and do the one thing you know you’re not supposed to, but sadly Talon knew that he couldn’t give in. Yet he did every single time.
He slowed from his run, looking around the unfamiliar woods, his eyes picking up every little detail from the veins in the leaves to the dirt on the forest floor, even the little rustle of fur not that far away. Apparently, some animal hadn’t noticed him coming. But he had hunted a few days ago, and by the gold of his irises and the unappealing scent of blood, it was obvious that he didn’t need to hunt again just yet. Then his head swiveled in a different direction as the steady sound of footsteps making their way through the forest reached his ears, and he swore under his breath. Those weren’t animal footsteps, because no animal walked upright on only two feet. Only humans did that. Without thinking, he found his feet moving over the ground once again, heading slowly in the direction the sound was coming from, almost like he was in a daze. A smirk played at his lips as he dryly thought of the irony in that he was the one partially dazzled right now, when he was usually the one doing the dazzling.
As he got closer, he saw that there was a clearing between him and the human- the scent was now driving him near insane, but he was doing a very good sign of not showing it or doing anything rash- and through the trees Talon saw the source of his curiosity and sudden tight throat and pooling venom. Damn, and he hadn’t been hungry. She had deep blue eyes and chestnut colored hair, and from the looks of it she’d just fallen over something and hit her head, and the look on her face made her seem like she’d just seen a ghost. At the edges of his senses he thought he felt someone else, but he couldn’t be sure. He didn’t smell any other source of blood, didn’t hear another heart beating, nor any footsteps, so that meant if anyone was there, they were a vampire, possibly like himself, possibly hunting the girl in front of him. As the thought entered his mind, the thought he’d previously just had about turning and leaving before she saw him, too, was vanquished. Nervously, he shifted his weight onto the balls of his feet, holding his breath and expanding his senses to try and pinpoint if there really was another vampire besides himself in the area.
Sadly, though, he was downwind, and the only scent that he could pick up was the tantalizing scent of human blood wafting off of the poor little human in the clearing who hit her head. She wasn’t very coordinated, was she? Then again, there was no blood spilled, and no evidence of cuts or anything, so she must have made it here without much trouble. Maybe it was just a bit of bad luck. “Must be a concussion.” He couldn’t help but grin at the thought. Yep, she must have hit her head. She picked herself up and walked, a little dizzily, to the middle of the clearing. Talon took a step forward, wincing when a branch/ twig snapped underneath his foot. ”Hello? Is anybody there?” Talon growled under his breath, too quietly for the human to hear. ‘She had to ask a direct question?’ he wondered, biting the inside of his cheek and stepping cautiously out into the clearing. Thankfully, he was wearing a black hoody and jeans, so every inch of diamond-like skin was covered at the moment, so even if the sun was out, he wasn’t sparkling and casting rainbows all over the clearing like a crystal with light passed through it. That would just raise a red flag right there. “Yeah, uh, I am. Hi.” So what if he sounded lame? What else was he supposed to say? It’s not like he could’ve lied. It’s not like he could’ve stayed in the trees; sooner or later he would’ve ended up bursting out the truth. Damn his power. It was more like a curse. tagged>> annabelle, talon, i'm sure still opened word count>> 842 thinking>>maroon italics talking>> maroon bold listening to>> nothing

Annabelle tilted her head to the side, still peering into the tree's, swearing that she heard someone there. Her mind instinctively pushed the thought away, minding her own buisness and keeping things simple, but most of all, she was trying not to scare herself. She all but thought her mind was playing tricks on her, of course, she was right. Suddenly, a flock of crows passed through the sky, leaping from the tips of the tree's that were surrounding the beautiful meadow. What is startling them so much? She wondered, her gaze still directed deeply into the sky above. Her head gently moved back to the tree's at the sound of a gentle - yet frustrated - and musical voice. A small smile was tugging at her lips as she saw a beautiful boy step out of the woods. She was used to the melodic voice, of course, because her bestfriend is a... a... vampire. She wasn't very comfortable with saying the word, it slightly made her wince, because of course, she'd never think of her like that. To Anna, she was a bestfriend, vampire or not. Her body immediately froze, noticing his pale white skin, and amazing honey eyes. Well, she came here thinking that the worst she could run into was a irritable grizzly. Of course the thought escaped her mind that she could run into a vampire. What were the odds of that happening? As much as she wanted to take her eyes off of him, she couldn't, it just wouldn't happen for her. It almost seemed as though her body was paralized, completely paralized.
For some reason, though, she just wasnt scared, not the slightest. She took a breath for a moment, trying to concentrate, and then moved one arm up, sweeping her hair from one side of her shoulder to her other. Her eyes were curious, knowing that he must be having a problem with her scent, what was she suppose to say: Hey, if uh.. If my scent is driving you crazy.. I could leave? Fat chance. Annie already explained the "No humans should know about vampires, they'll get killed." rule. So, I guess she'll just have to stick it out, and hopefully not point out the obvious. She suddenly remembered that she was probably gawking at him like an idiot. "I... uh... Hi." She finally said, giving a small smile. "I'm Annabelle." She looked at him, jeans and a black hoodie. Typical, don't want to sparkle, now do you? She thought to herself. She looked up, her eyes meeting his, and a small blush creeped on her face. Damn vampires. They always do that to you. Even Annie does that, and she's the same sex as I am, how wrong is that? Her thoughts were uncontrolled, although she showed no sign of it on her face.
She finally pulled her gaze away from his and looked down at the ground, thinking of what to say or do. Most likely, now he would just run away, not wanting to get too close to her or even be near a human. She was just pathetic compared to vampires. Honestly, she's like a twig. Make one wrong move and SNAP. Lovely. She brought her gaze back up, he almost looked uncomfortable, but somehow, she didnt want him to leave. "You know," She said quietly, knowing that he'd be able to hear her. She bit her lip nervously. "You don't have to worry about sparkling. You can come sit down." She immediately regretted it after saying it. Okay, now she was basically guaranteed death. But he didn't seem like he'd kill her... But then again, looks are decieving. She didn't want to glance at him, but she felt she had to... She kept her eyes on the ground, practically forcing herself not to look at him. Eventually, she managed a glance, looking up at his gorgeous honey eyes. Now she couldn't look away... again. But what was going to cross his mind? Would he be scared, maybe he'd run? Or maybe he'd make one move and kill her. Who knew? She got up, ready to at least take a sprint and attempt to get away if she had to. Then the wind blew in his direction, her hair swirling all around her. She dropped her gaze, knowing that it would be hard for him... really hard.

She was smiling after he spoke… yet she also winced shortly after, even though he said nothing more. Talon arched a brow in questioning, though he said nothing to pry. After all, he didn’t like questions, whether he was the one asking them and especially not if he was the one being asked, so why make the poor girl answer his questions? He could already tell that, without even trying, he’d managed to dazzle her, by the way she wasn’t moving and her gaze was locked on him, probably his pale skin that was hidden in the shadows of the hood, or the butterscotch eyes that were such an unusual color for, well, anyone. He gave a half hearted apologetic smile for the dazzling, and stiffened when she moved her hair from one side of her shoulder to the other. With the one simple action, he’d gotten a stronger whiff of her scent, and he let his eyes narrow to small slivers, like a cat’s when it’s tracking prey.
Of course he noticed the curious gleam in her eyes. ‘If she asks the wrong question, I might have to kill her.’ he realized, frowning at the thought. Killing people was not his forte. He didn’t just go gallivanting around when he was bored, killing everything in sight. In fact, he hadn’t killed a single person in his life, vampire or not, and he only killed animals because he had to. “I… uh… Hi.” He grinned, his eyes widening slightly so he didn’t look quite like he was going to leap and attack her. There was no reason for that, as far as he could see. “I’m Annabelle.”“Annabelle…” Talon said slowly, hesitantly, unsure of how the name would sound coming from him. To him, any name other than a typical Japanese name and his own sounded foreign when he spoke it, and just felt wrong coming from his mouth. It felt that way with the entire language, really, but now that he was living in the U.S., there wasn’t really much he could do about it unless he went back to Japan, and frankly, 25 years there when he died at 18 was more than enough. “Pretty name.” he commented. “Mine’s not pretty” he paused to make a face that was half a mixture of disgust at the thought of his name being pretty, and half relief that his name wasn’t pretty. “But I guess Talon isn’t that bad of a name.”
The rosy blush that spread across her cheeks made him frown, and in the back of his throat, very quietly, he growled. Talon knew that she wasn’t trying to make this hard, and was only just dazzled by him, maybe not even one thing about him, just him; but he couldn’t help but feel that she knew what he was and was trying to make life difficult for him. When that thought crossed his mind he wanted to hit himself in the forehead and tell himself that was the stupidest thing he’d ever come up with. Even if she did know, she wouldn’t purposely be making life hard on him. That would only imminently lead to her death.
Her deep blue eyes kept meeting his golden ones, despite the fact that she was obviously trying to prevent that from happening, or trying to not get caught looking at him. Her soft words surprised him, he wasn’t going to lie about that- even if he could- and gave her a cautious glance. “You know about vampires.” The finality in his tone made it clear that it was a statement, not a question. Okay, so Annabelle did know about vampires, if she knew about the whole sparkling deal. But she wasn’t scared of him, at least not enough to run the second she realized what he was; in fact, she’d asked him to come sit closer to her. Giving her another cautious glance, he pulled the hood off of his head, feeling the warm sun on his cold, white skin. How long had it been since he’d been in the sun? ‘Three years.’ If he could strangle the voice inside his head, he would have long ago when it started answer rhetorical questions. Running his fingers through his onyx hair, he hesitated a millisecond longer, debating if he really wanted to risk putting himself in a closer proximity with her. The temptation was only going to get worse. ‘But you always do daring things. Why not one more?’ Ah, at least the questions that he asked himself, he didn’t have to answer. Faster than he should have, he walked over to within a few feet of her, tilting his head to the side in mild curiosity as to why she’d stood up. “If I really wanted to kill you, running away wouldn’t have gotten you very far.” he stated simply, reaching forward and taking her wrist lightly, carefully, and tugging on it just as carefully, urging her to sit back down. “If I wanted to, I already would’ve, so it’s a safe bet that I’m not going to hurt you.”‘And if I said it, it must be true. I can’t lie.’

Annabelle was practically sure of her death being right here in the clearing. Of course, his honey eyes were an indication that he doesn't drink.... human... blood. Annabelle's face slightly scrunched and puckered at the thought, ugh, drinking.. human..blood. Animals, she could understand, but she could never imagine Annie or... the guy standing over there, or even herself drinking blood from another human. It just seems so... not edible. She took her eyes back up to his face, meeting his expression with a frown on his face as if he was thinking about something unpleasant, again, her death came to mind, but why would that be unpleasant for him, wouldn't he enjoy it? You know.. a little ripping action at the throat and then maybe a leg, too. She sighed to herself, knowing that it was stupid of herself to now go thinking of the ways she'd die. Although, there was a good chance she was right.
The curious gleam in her eyes rested where they were. He had that look on his face... like he was going to pounce on her and rip her to shreds. Lovely, Annabelle thought. Can I at least say goodbye to my dad? A smirk was on her face at the thought of this, she felt like she was blowing everything way, way out of proportion. Which, she was, she could admit that. Anna heard him repeat her name as though it was foreign, which it probably could be, to him. But hey, welcome to America. Her head automatically tilted to the side, although she remained silent, eyes skeptical as to what he was doing, repeating her name. Everything sounded good coming from their mouths though, so it didn't exactly "bother" her, so to speak. Running a hand through her hair, she saw his eyes widen a little more, now it didnt exactly look like he wanted to eat her for lunch, which is, well, good. 'Pretty name' She heard him comment, and automatically she blushed. She muttered a couple of curses under her breath. "Damn vampires and their damn dazzling." She muttered again, looking down. She looked back up at him with a smile on her face. "It makes it really hard to do anything but blush." Anna said, slightly surprised that this time she didn't stutter or slurr, or make a complete moron of herself. He said that his name wasn't pretty? Well, are guys names suppose to be pretty? She was slightly confused as he said this, not knowing whether it was a good thing or not. She pushed her chaotic thoughts aside and listened to him. "Well," she began. "It's nice to meet you, Talon. But you can call me Anna. Annabelle is kind of a..." She paused, not being able to come up with a good word. "mouthfull," She finally managed, giving him a small smile.
Anna nodded in response to him asking, more like stating, that she knew about vampires. Her smile widened some, noticing that he actually hadn't killed her, yet. She saw him shoot a cautious glance her way, and her smile changed from widened to reassuring. Her eyes slightly widened in response to him taking off his hood, or more so that he started to glitter and sparkled. She wondered how that gets her everytime -- the sparkling thing... it was like everytime she saw Annie step into the sun her heart automatically started to beat faster. But now, she just felt flat-out stupid. How much do you want to bet that he can hear my heartbeat? She asked herself. Nothing, I know he can. She answered, almost feeling mad at herself because he brain was trying to tell her different.
Although slightly hesitant, it seemed as though he enjoyed to be in the sun, which was nice. But now, he seemed even more hesitant, but it looked as though his mind wasn't on her, it was one something else, as though he was deep in thought or zoned out. Her head titled to the side again, slightly wondering what he was thinking about, but she was not about to ask. Her head finally tilted back up as she saw him zone back in and walk over, or would that be jog, I think she could almost call that running... at a human pace. She smiled, still stood up, ready to run at any second. But as she thought about running, it led to a train of thoughts and she got caught up in them. Finally, she zoned back in hearing his voice, or hearing the word "kill you". She grinned sheepishly in response. "Yes, I know. But honestly, I'd rather at least try then sit there as though I just got served on a plate." She said, lightly laughing, trying to mellow her mood the slightest bit. And the laughing did help her a bit, making everything calm more for her. She looked at him with cautious eyes, not pulling her hand away when he reached for it, instead, she barely reacted. She said down as he gently urged her to, her eyes still on him, now turning slightly skeptical. She wanted to ask him many questions, but she really wasn't one to ask them... She didn't exactly "like" questions, mainly because she got them in return, and usually, it sucked. His touch was like an electrical zap, not a bad one, but it felt nice for a change. She closed her eyes for a moment and took a deep breath, exhaling and opening her eyes again, trying to... calm her heart since it went that much faster when he touched her. "I figured... But I guess I always second guess myself. Are you used to being around humans? Because if you're not, I wouldn't want to make anything hard for you, I could leave." She said gently, looking at him with concerned eyes.

So, something about him disgusted her. The face she made was proof of that. Honestly, Talon couldn’t blame her for being disgusted. Vampires drank blood, after all; that was the one myth that Hollywood producers hadn’t gotten wrong in Dracula and every vampire movie to be released since. C’mon, what could garlic possibly do to them? It smelled bad, but didn’t do anything more than annoy the hell out of their sensitive sense of smell. Where had he been? Oh, right, the fact that she’d been disgusted with him. He gave her a puzzled look and frowned, his brows furrowing in frustrated confusion. If Annabelle knew about vampires, she probably knew that the fact that he had, well, yellow eyes meant that he didn’t feed on humans.
Talon grinned about her comment about damn vampires and their damn dazzling. “I’m not trying to dazzle you. If I were, you’d know.” He pointed toward her face before continuing. “Though, I do agree with the “and their damn dazzling” part. If dazzling makes you blush, then I’ve got my work cut out for me.” He was regarding his self control, which he still doubted even though he’d had a few vegetarian vampires praise him highly about it. He just thought they were being nice and were trying to cheer him up, and trying to make sure he didn’t do something stupid like try to kill himself by picking a fight with another vampire. He may hate his power, he may be cursed, he may be a loner, and he may be discouraged about his ability to control his thirst, but he wasn’t suicidal, thank you very kindly. He smirked when she said he could call her Anna, because Annabelle was a mouthful, and he rolled his eyes, snorting at the fact that she thought her name was a mouthful. “I grew up calling people by their last names. Mochinushi-sama or Naitsu-chan (actually short for Naitsuusha-chan) is a mouthful. Annabelle is not. You Americans and your nicknames. But if you insist, Anna it is. Or would you prefer Kane-chan? It means bell, after all.” He grinned, crossing his arms behind his neck and tilting his head back to look up at the sun through narrowed eyes.
It was so… bright. Every day he’d spent in dreary little Forks had been overcast and gloomy, so the perfect cloudless blue sky with dazzling rays of white-yellow sun was a big shock to him compared to the grays and blacks that he was used to for the area’s color pallet. He looked around at the greens and browns and other colors around him, realizing that they weren’t as dull as he’d originally thought they were. But something interrupted her thoughts; a very loud, somewhat erotic heartbeat that sounded like it was pounding in his ears. Surely, it wasn’t his heart; his had given it’s last beat and stilled sixteen years ago, so he concluded it was hers, and grinned triumphantly. “I’m not even trying to make you react. It seems that it’s not very hard to get a reaction from you, though.” Talon teased, though being kind enough not to look at her and end up dazzling her more. That would just make her blush, and his throat was already tight and burning, excess venom pooling in his mouth that he was trying to swallow down. No need to be even more of a masochist then he was already being.
“I’m sure you know that it doesn’t matter if you just sit there or try to run, if a vampire really wants to catch you, they can.” Talon, as if to emphasize his point, easily switched from her one side to her other before she could blink, brushed her hair away from her neck. Her skin was so warm! And the feeling of her pulse under his fingers was pushing him way past masochist to plain old torturing himself, like swallowing lava, but he let his hand fall back to his side, making no inclination to lean forward and bite her. He wasn’t going to bite her, he had no intention of it, because what was the point in killing her. Obviously, some vampire had trusted her with their secret, so she had to be worth something to another vampire. Killing her would only make him the object of another vampire’s hunting for revenge.
When Anna sat down, he did too, leaning his elbows on his knees so he could lean forward and listen to her better. Not like he couldn’t hear her from five miles away, but that’s beside the point. He’d heard the slight kick in her heart rate when he’d touched her, and had to refrain from grinning. Sure, he’d felt the little electric jolt flow through his fingertip, up his arm, through his shoulders, and strike his brain like a livewire, but he made no motion like he’d felt anything out of the ordinary. Beneath his fingers, Talon could feel her pulse throbbing steadily, and he sighed, running his thumb over her wrist once before letting her free of his grasp. He looked at her with a slightly annoyed expression when she asked if he was used to being around humans, offering to leave if things were hard on him. “I’ve been around humans since I was first changed.” he said blankly, though truthfully. He couldn’t answer a question any other way but truthfully. “You don’t have to leave. You’re making this a little hard, but it’s nothing I can’t handle.” tagged>> anna & talon; open still word count>> 919 thinking>>maroon italics talking>> maroon bold listening to>> many different things

Annabelle was still in deep thought when her eyes pulled her back to Talon, who, now that she saw it, had his eyebrows pulled together and was frowning. For a moment she was totally mistified, wondering what she did that made his expressions change so fast -- okay, yes, she was taking frequent glances at him and knew that his expressions obviously changed. But when she thought back to it, so did her expressions. When was thinking about vampires... drinking human... blood. She sighed, now looking at him. "I'm sorry, I was just thinking about drinking human blood... But I could never imagin you... or my bestfriend... or even me doing it." She stated, kind of laughing. "But I know you don't, judging by your eye color." She said, adding a smile.
Anna was slightly worried that he'd take her "damn vampires and their damn dazzling" comment bad, so she shot another glance his way, only to see him grinning. Well, this slightly surprised her, this time she kept her eyes on him, watching his expressions. Annabelle smiled and raised her eyebrows. "I don't know whether or not I should take that as a compliment or an insult." She said, half jokingly. She could say that it was good that he wasn't trying to dazzle her, or she could take it badly because.. well, he wasn't trying. Ugh, her brain is so messed up when it comes down to it. She shook her head, smiling, and ignored her thoughts once more. "Nah," She said, now grinning. "I won't keep blushing. I'm used to being around a vampire, but since your kind of... new to me, it will only happen once in a while."
She kept watching, wondering what he was thinking about, he seemed as though he was back in his own little world. A smile tugged at her lips while she watched him, and then suddenly his expression changed once again, this time he rolled his eyes and snorted. He eyes turned curious and he began to talk. So, he was from Japan, hey? Her smile grew, listening to what he had to say. It was actually kind of interesting, she now had many, many questions to ask him. But she wanted to wait until she knew him a little better to start asking the questions. When he was finally done she laughed. "Well then, you can call me whichever you prefer, even if it is.. Japanese" She laughed. "Actually, I know a lot of Japanese. I took the course in school, along with Spanish and French." She said quietly. "Although, I haven't even heard Japanese for the past year or so.. So I'm probably not the best, I'd need to brush up on it more."
She dropped her head, shifting her weight and sticking her feet out infront of her, letting the sun shine on her legs, but let me tell you, she definently was not sparkling. Occasionally, she had to take a glance over at him, or else she'd drive herself insane. She saw him looking around, enjoying the sun, but not much else. Eventually he said something and she looked over at him, grinning. But this time he didn't look at her, which made things a little easier. She sighed. "Yeah, well..." She struggled to find the right words. Eventually she gave up and just said it. "You have an ordinary, grubby girl sitting beside you. Not a dazzling vampire." She said, running a hand through her hair where she found a a twig, she took a minute to untangle it, and then pulled it out infront of her to get a good look at it. In one swift movement, she tossed it to the side.
She nodded, understanding what he meant. "Yes, but I'd like to get a couple punches in, at least." She said in a jokingly manner, nudging his arm playfully. But quickly, too quickly, he took off from one side of her to the other. She kept her gaze straight ahead, her heart beat normal, and didn't even react. But when he pulled her hair to the side, she could feel that damn electric zap and then her skin tingled from where he touched it. Shaking her head back and forth, a coy smile slipped onto her lips. "Honestly, my bestfriend is a vampire. She try's that on me all the time. You'll have to do better than that to scare me." She said, now looking over at him. She finally looked him in the eyes. Her head tilted to the side. "But I don't think you will scare me. Not because you can't, but because you wouldn't." She said gently.
She was kind of surprised and kind of relieved that he sat down with her. She thought that maybe, just maybe, he'd run away now. She watched every motion he made and every expression that crossed his face. But what surprised her the most was that, even when they sat down, he didn't let go of her wrist. I mean, he did, but not right away. Instead he rubbed his thumb over it, basically over the main vein, and then let go. Her wrist was still feeling cold and her wrist was now tingling. She let her arm drop to her lap, looking down at it for a moment before brining her eyes back up to him. This time, his expression was annoyed, and beyond his expression she could see that he didn't want to answer the question, or any question. Her head tilted to the side again, as though it was almost a habit already, and she waited for his answer. She listened inently, and then opened her mouth to say something but then quickly closed it, figuring out a way that her sentance wouldn't come out wrong. She finally started again. "If you've been around humans so much, why is my scent practically driving you insane?" She asked, now looking him in the eyes. "Well, at least, that's what your expression tells me. But it also tells me that you don't like questions, so this will be my last. Why don't you like questions?" She looked back down at her lap again, scared that she bothered him. But at the same time, she really, really wanted to know.
Well, because I see everyone doing this...

Talon gave Anna a long, searching look, wondering just how many times the thought of being a vampire and drinking human blood had run through that pretty little head of hers. “Well,” he said finally, still probing her features so if there was the tiniest bit of a reaction to his words. “I can’t vouch for your best friend, seeing as how I’ve only met a few other vampires. And as for me, you can trust you’re in good hands. But, if you, my dear, were to drink human blood as you are, people would probably think you’re a crazy cannibal.” Pausing, he leaned closer to her, so that she would feel his breath on her face and so he could peer up at her through his lashes, making the most of the dazzling ability he’s been given, “Unless, of course, you’ve had thoughts of being changed into one of us.” He grinned, thinking just how easily that could be arranged. But, wait, there was that damn treaty with the wolves- if there really were any- that had a rule about “no biting any human from the Forks area”, or if it didn’t specifically say that, it may as well have. Whoever came up with that rule really knew how to spoil someone’s fun.
He listened intently when she talked, glad that she wasn’t asking questions. She was probably the first human without an inquiring mind, or who was able to resist the urge to ask what she was tempted to ask. Honestly, Talon liked her because of that. It didn’t put him in a predicament where he was forced to tell the truth, when he would rather lie or just keep his mouth shut. “It wasn’t an insult, Kane-chan, nor was it a compliment. It was just a simple statement that needs to be taken just as it is.” he pointed out simply, smirking at her comment that because he was new she would end up blushing every once in a while. He could live with that, and he may have to if he saw her more often.
Hmm, so she’d taken a course in Japanese? ‘That’s what she said.’ Ignoring the voice that loved to answer his questions, he debated over making her try to remember what she’d learned or let her have it easy and keep speaking English. Deciding on the latter, he shrugged when she mentioned she hadn’t heard Japanese in a while. “I’m not going to be your refresher course, so you don’t have to worry about remembering Japanese.” Talon reassured her, wondering for a second if Japanese sounded as foreign to her as English did to him, even though he’d known the language since he was little. It had been required in school, after all.
”You have an ordinary, grubby girl next to you. Not a dazzling vampire.” Sighing and running his fingers through his hair, noting that the skin on his hand sparkled still and mentally glaring at the glittering spots that filled his eyes, he gave her a confused look before sighing again. “Why is it that every girl, no matter what species, is so concerned about the way they look?” he wondered. ‘You wouldn’t know, you’re a guy.’ he answered himself. “I know of at least two vampires who would kill- not literally- to have your eye color. Face it, you’re not ordinary, you just like to think you are. As for grubby, I don’t even want to know who you’re describing with that word.” No, she wasn’t grubby, and she definitely wasn’t ordinary, even for a human, he decided as he let his eyes roam over her frame. Her eyes were just one feature he’d pointed out that set her apart, but there were many more he could have used, like her long, soft hair, creamy smooth skin, damn near excellent physique that probably wouldn’t change all that much if she became a vampire… and the way she smelled was another thing. Where she’d gotten grubby in the dictionary about herself, Talon would never know, because to him she smelled like fresh, clean rain and apples, which was far more appealing than the overpowering perfumes and body sprays that most girls wore basically every day of their lives.
The thought of her trying to punch him made him laugh, because sadly he had the feeling that she’d end up with a broken hand at the end of that while he hadn’t moved a muscle. He shook his head, not even going to make a comment on how stupid it would be to try and hit a vampire, because Anna was probably already aware of the fact that their skin was basically as hard as solid granite. It would be like punching the countertops in your kitchen, just shaped differently. Talon stopped laughing and gave her a curious look, tilting his head to the side, now pondering if she was right. Would he try to scare her? ”No, I wouldn’t.” he said simply. He was perfectly capable of being scary, but for some reason he didn’t think he could bring himself to try and scare her.
Amusedly, his honey colored eyes watched as she opened her mouth, then closed it again, not making a sound in between the actions. Obviously, she was trying to figure out how to phrase something just right in a way that wouldn’t annoy him. "If you've been around humans so much, why is my scent practically driving you insane?" Frowning at the question, he waited for her to finish, and was a little peeved to hear her ask the question he dreaded most: ”Why don’t you like questions?” With a defeated look on his face, he was quiet for a moment, having to bite his tongue so he couldn’t just burst out with the truth about both of the questions. “I… don’t really know why your scent is driving me crazy… it just, sorta, is.” he admitted, sighing. He would have loved to lie and say that he knew why, and just be coy and not tell her, but he wasn’t able to do that. And now he was going to have to explain that to her. “Why do I not like questions?” he mused, waiting for his mind to kick in and blurt out the answer for him so he wouldn’t have to think about it, or how to explain it. “Because I can’t lie. Some vampires have a special power after they’re changed, and mine just so happens to be absolute honesty. I can’t even tell a harmless lie.” He sighed, tilting his head back to look at the sky. “If I wanted to say ‘The sky is red’, I would end up saying ‘The sky is blue’. I only got away with saying ‘the sky is red’ because my brain knows that I’m not saying it as a statement, but more as an example.” tagged>> kane-chan, talon, still opened word count>> 1,152 thinking>>maroon italics talking>> maroon bold listening to>> silence

Annabelle was forcing herself to look away at the time, keeping her eyes away and looking at her surroundings -- but mostly tree's. Not that there was anything else she could look at that would be classified as "surroundings". But alas, her eyes were drawn back to him, only to see that he was looking at her face. This time, she didn't blush, although she was... surprised? There really wasn't a word to describe the way she felt, but she could feel his stare on her now that she noticed it, and surprised would be the closest word she could find. A light smile was plastered on her face as he began to talk. She gently laughed. "Yeah, probably. Not that I'd try as a human. . ." She said, her smile took place again, covering up her mistake of how she worded her sentance. Her head dropped, trying to completely cover her mistake. But then when she looked back up, he was close... really close... She was sure her eyes had widened, and a damned blush creeped upon her face. Annabelle could smell his breath, and of course, it smelled fantastic, no doubt. 'I'm not trying to dazzle you. If I were, you'd know.' She thought back to his statement, and shook her head back and forth, deciding not to bother commenting about it. Her eyebrows slightly raised, and she sighed in response, knowing that she'd have to answer... honestly. "Well," She thought for a moment. "I've definently concidered it... A lot. And I think I'd like to..." She struggled to finish her sentance. "But I doubt that if I even brought up the topic with Annie, she'd... turn me down flat. I don't know if it's the fact that over centuries I'd probably annoy her so much that she'd ask someone to kill her, or if she's too scared to take the risk of me dying." She said honestly, kind of embarassed. She looked down again, her blush deepening. She looked back up, a light laugh escaping her lips, she moved her face a little closer to his, a small reminder in the back of her head telling her not to scare him. "I have bets on the first one," She admitted, cracking a grin.
Tilting her head to the side, questions ran through her mind. But, as it is, she's not nosy at all. And they weren't vampire questions, they were more... simple questions. Like favorite color, friends, family, favorite animal, so on... Just stuff she'd ask anyone, even a human, for instance. She started to look around again, knowing that it might get annoying when wherever you go, people are constantly staring at you. But if she was going to keep her eyes off him, she needed a distraction. She started to count tree's. One, two, three, four.... She skipped a few, the urge to glance at him starting to brew. twenty-two, twenty-three... But then he began to talk and she had the excuse to look at him. Smiling, she nodded in agreement, making the decision to keep her mouth shut.
"Thank God!" She blurted out, slightly laughing in a nervous reaction. "I understood it, but couldn't pronounce anything worth shit." She thought back, humiliating herself in front of the whole class, well, not exactly humiliating, she laughed at herself too. So it wasn't exactly the whole go-cry-in-washroom concept. It was more so the fall-on-floor-laughing one...
She watched him as he ran a hand through his hair and sighed, his expression changing once more. She smirked, knowing what was coming next. She's heard it from many, many guys, and somehow, different species or not, they made the same action. The brush-hand-through-hair-and-sigh thing that they have going on. She then sighed, too. "Honestly," She began, almost puzzled at the beginning as she was with everyone who asked. "I dont know. As much as you may think that I'm one of those girls who will critisize herself and others about the way they look, I'm not. I just..." Once again, she struggled to fins the right words. "Well, I'm sure you caught the sight of me pulling a twig from my hair. I've spent my whole day hiking, and again, honestly, I've been sweating like a pig and these shoes are driving me nuts. This isn't exactly the day I'd like to meet someone like you looking like this, and I feel like a total moron." She said, half embarassed, she started to play with her hands out of nervous habbit, looking away as she flushed red. God, what was he going to think of her now? Maybe being a little too honest isn't going to do her any good, but neither would lying so... She's stuck in between a rock and a vampire. Both literally rock-hard. Lovely. But soon after she was finished talking he told her that he knew at least two vampires that would kill to have her eye color. This, put a smile on her face, and her blush -yet again- deepened to crimson. Now she was forced to look over at him, and he was looking at her. She couldn't blush anymore, so she was safe. But she was too scared to even attempt to figure out what he was thinking.
His laugh was musical, like almost all vampires. It made her smile and slightly giggle, glad she broke the awkwardness. She could easily see herself punching an evil vampire, right before he was about to go for her throat, only to break her hand, or arm, first and cry out in pain before he even bothered to touch her. She shook her head back and forth, a coy smile plastered on her face. "Yeah... I could see that happening. Me punching a vampire before he or she even touches me, and then I cry out in pain, and then him looking at me like I'm some kind of idiot." She said, now whole-heartedly laughing. When he stopped laughing, so did she, looking over at him. She saw a curious look in his eyes, along with his head tilted to the side. She raised and eyebrow, challenging him to answer. A small smile was placed on her face as he told her he wouldn't. It was good, and now she didn't have to feel like she had to expect something to jump out and scare her everytime she was around him, well, if she were to see him again. Ever.
Silence... Silence... Silence... She waited, scared that she may have upsetted him in some way with her questions. As the silence dragged on she got more and more scared, she turned her gaze to the trees, trying to look for another distraction, yet again. Finally, she turned back to him when she came up with nothing. Now she saw him frowning and got really worried. "I'm sorry!" She slipped in before he started to talk. Now, her head tilted to the side, taking in every word he said. "Oh," She said with a slight grin. She then was hit with another answer. Her eyebrows raised in wow, nodding as she did so. "Well then," She said, noticing how much he seemed to hate his "power". "You don't have to worry, I won't use it to my advantange. But, I will probably ask you simply questions... like your favorite color and so on... Nothing too big. Everyone's entitled to their secrets, and everyone means everyone, no exceptions. So I won't be sticking my nose where it doesn't belong." She said, adding a light smile. "But for the record, you don't ever have to lie to me, even if you had the option. I'm happy with any response, just as long as it's the truth."

So she was trying to not look at him, eh? Obviously, she wasn’t have such a great time with that, but Talon had to give her credit for trying to keep herself distracted from, well, him. He had to fight the grin that threatened to leap onto his face when he heard her best friend’s name for the first time. “Annie and Anna? Ooh, that would be funny to run into.” he said, noting in the back of his mind that Anna had moved her face a little bit closer to his. And god damnit, she was blushing. The smell that close was so tempting he closed his eyes, reminding himself that if he bit her, the wolves would be after him and every vampire in Forks, and it would be all his fault. So basically, if he got away from the wolves, he’d have a numbers of vampires on his trail too, all because he bit this one human whose scent was driving him insane. Literally. He couldn’t think straight, and could only just barely manage to get himself to lean back slightly, making the scent a little less overpowering and clearing some of the fog that rolled in to start to cloud his judgment. “She may not be willing to change you, but someone out there might be.” Talon said softly, eyes still closed. “You can’t be that annoying, after all.”
By now his mind was reeling, and if it was possible you’d be able to hear the gears turning as Talon thought, intently listening in case Annabelle started to talk again. Would he change her? ‘Possibly. It depends.’ For once, the voice in his head that answered rhetorical questions as well as ones he was really pondering was almost helpful. Almost. Depends on what? ‘If you’d be able to stop yourself from draining her.’ Would I? ‘Duh.’ He growled quietly at the voice, though the action was out loud, like he was growling at nothing in particular, as his eyes snapped opened in a glare. ‘No need to be a valley girl about something I wasn’t sure about.’ he thought, now slightly irritated. Sure, he’d been told that he had better self-control than most vampires, but that didn’t mean he’d be able to stop himself if he actually tasted human blood.
The irritability was quickly washed away when Anna laughed after she blurted out the relieved statement. For a second he wondered if she’d been able to hear what was going through his mind, but then she continued on about the fact that she could understand it but… oh. She was referring to Japanese. Duh. Talon’s expression softened from the glare to a look of amusement, and he chuckled. “Try me. You can’t be that bad at pronouncing the language.” he encouraged, wanting to hit himself in the forehead with his palm for his previous moment of stupidity.
“I realized the twig.” Talon said simply with a grin. He had been going to be polite and not point out that he’d seen it; let the human think she’d snuck something past a vampire’s enhanced vision, but since she pointed it out, he may as well admit he’d seen it. “If you think you stink, I’d hate to know what you smell like when you smell good in your opinion.” he mumbled quietly, but possibly loud enough for her to hear. If she smelled bad now, then he didn’t think he could stand it if she smelled good. Any more appealing and he would probably be drooling venom. Swallowing, his throat still tight, he bit the inside of his cheek, hoping that would help. It didn’t. “And if you’re shoes are bugging you, then take them off. I don’t mind.” So what? As long as she was comfortable, he didn’t care. When her hands started to fidget, he reached forward and took one in his grasp, playing with her fingers absently. “Fidgeting is a bad habit.” he pointed out, being careful not to let hi fingers stray anywhere near the pulse point on her wrist. That would be the icing on the cake to throw him into damn masochism. Oh, wait, he was already there just by sitting near her. Right.
If she’d really punch a vampire, she was insane. Then again, if any vampire with an intension that would give her a reason to punch them got within any threatening distance of her, Talon had a feeling that he wouldn’t allow it. So her needing to punch a vampire, therefore breaking her hand or arm and getting looked at like she was an idiot wasn’t going to happen. Not if he had any say in it. To give her a break- yes, Talon had noticed her looking around at the trees for some distraction from him- he looked down at her hand, the one he was holding, still absently playing with her fingers. His mind once again noted how warm her skin was compared to his own, and how soft, and how much tanner in color. Okay, well, not that much tanner, but still darker. Not ghostly white.
Chuckling darkly, there was no response to her apology from the dark-haired vampire for a moment. Then, finally, “What do you have to be sorry for? You didn’t know.” He glanced up from her fingers to her eyes, then back down, pretending to be entranced with what he was doing. He kept quiet while she spoke, and then for a long time afterwards, mulling over the words she said. Abruptly, he nodded once, though still looking down at her hand, turning it over in his hand to look at her palm, using the index finger on his free hand to trace the lines on her flesh. “Simple questions won’t be too bad, I s’pose.” he mumbled, though it was somewhat obvious that any question in his book was a bad one. School was horrible. All you had was questions. Thankfully, unless they were directed toward him, he didn’t have to blurt out the truth. Most of the time, that is. There was once when… “If it’s the truth you want, you came to the right place.” The grin was evident in his voice, even if she wasn’t able to see it. tagged>> anna ‘n’ talon word count>> 1042 thinking>>maroon italics talking>> maroon bold listening to>> whatever’s been on cmt

Looking over at him, she noticed that he was willing himself not to smile, or grin, whichever you prefer. Annabelle shook her head back and forth, smiling. "Actually, it's pretty ironic... They're so similiar, and then some people actually get us confused, calling me Annie and her Anna. But it happens." She said, shrugging. As their faces were so close, she bit her lip, fighting back a chuckle as she saw him close his eyes and concentrate, then, ever so subtly, move back. Well, that just proves that two can play at that game. And by that game... I guess you could say the dazzling game. But he started it. She moved back a little, too, noticing that she was probably driving him up the wall with her... uhm, scent? was it? She smiled, leaning back on her arms and looking at him with her head gently tilted to the side as he spoke. But he spoke so... softly, it almost seemed to drive her insane how gentle his voice was. Okay, so maybe two couldn't play at that game anymore... She closed her eyes for a moment, breathing deeply to just relieve herself of any urges she had. "Well," She began. "I don't really know many more vampires then you, Annie, and the Cullens. And I'm not close with the Cullens, I just see them in school the odd time. Unless you're implying that you might." She said slowly, saying it as more of a spoken question to herself. She now turned to look at him. "But I doubt you would, because for one, we'd have to go far, far away. The treaty, right? And the second thing, you'd be stuck with me. For a very, very long time. Oh, and maybe third, there'd be a chance of you killing me. But that's the small part." She said, teasing, a smile strongly tugging at her lips.
Anna shrugged. Could she be that annoying? Even as a vampire? She thought about this for a moment, almost dazed at the question itself. Maybe she could... it's quite possible. She's been told before, many times, actually, that she can be annoying, but over centuries, wouldn't she mature a little? "I think it's possible. I mean... I'm never growing up. I'm determined to stay a kid forever." She said with a wide smile, a light laugh escaping her lips. She thought for a moment... What would it be like to stay a kid forever? Wouldn't it get... boring? Or even annoying, maybe even awkward? Annabelle was so lost in thought that she almost forgot where she was and what she was doing. She finally zoned back in. "Oh!" She said, sheepishly grinning. "You know what I just noticed?" She asked him, but then answered anyway. "It would be near impossible to beat you in a staring contest." She looked at him, refraining herself from cracking up laughing. What had gotten into her? How did she even come up with that thought?... She pointed a finger at him. "One day," She said slowly. "I'm going to challenge you to a staring contest." She said more gently this time, raising her eyebrows, waiting for his response.
Okay, so, she really wasn't expecting it... Not at all, actually, it was more of a surprise to her than anything. But when he started to growl, she actually didn't jump, and her heart didn't excellerate. She simply looked over at him with curious eyes, her expression skeptical and her mind elsewhere. That was lovely. She thought, as she saw his eyes harden into a glare. So, what did she do this time? She kept her eyes fixed with his, but for some reason, she wasn't even scared.
She was beyond relieved as his expressions quickly changed from being hard...growley.... and full of glare, to soft and amused. She laughed, too, in response. "Oh god." She said, closing her eyes to think back on what she had learned. Damn language. "Konnichiwa, O-namae wa nan desu ka?" Opening her eyes, she looked at him, a coy smile on her face. "I think I said 'Hello, what is your name?' But ugh... I don't know." She said, almost as though she was a little kid, learning what shoe goes on the right foot. She sighed, knowing that it probably sounded foreign coming from her, but oddly enough, it didn't feel foreign, just not used enough.
Annabelle's lips tightened in a line, holding back a grin as she listened to what he had to say. She understood the first part, but then he mumbled something, and she understood what he said, but was kind of skeptical of whether she heard it right. She lightly laughed. "Yeah, I, on the other, didn't realize the twig at first... And I probably have a couple more and who knows what else stuck in my hair, too." She shook her head back and forth, letting out a faint chuckle. "And then you just take a couple quick steps through the forest and you're at your destination." She looked across the forest, into the tree's in the opposite direction of Talon; her way of "distracting herself". Pshh, who was she kidding? It wasn't a distraction, it was a way of making herself feel like it was possible to get distracted. But as he spoke again, she looked back at him. "I don't really... know. From the information I've gathered, normal people don't smell themselves." She said with a laugh. "But my shampoo smells like green apples, if that helps." She said, adding a coy smile. She glanced back at him - the same action she's been doing since she first saw him - and quickly turned away as it seemed that he was doing something in his mouth... like... biting his cheek or something? She didn't know, or maybe she didn't want to know... She decided to shut up, inside and out. But then he started talking again, and she immediately looked back at him, muttering curses in the back of her head. She was hesitant, but spoke clearly. "It's okay," Annabelle said, she was not about to take off her shoes infront of him. Especially while she was wearing her purple and blue striped socks with rabbits... She looked back down at her lap, her hands still fidgeting, but obviously he noticed it, because his hand suddenly -but lightly- took hers and he started playing with her fingers. Wasn't she not suppose to be blushing anymore? I mean, shouldn't she be okay with actions like this? But... she was blushing. A lot. Normally, she wouldnt be blushing, she got over the dazzling thing a while ago... Unless, she actually liked him? She kept her eyes on her lap while thinking about this. The thought constantly ran through her head. Do I? Could I? Should I? Maybe I do... She thought, sounding stupid, even to herself.
Evertime he started touching her fingers again she felt the same electric zap run up her arm and hit her brain. It was a little overwhelming... But at the same time, it felt nice. She looked at him as he finally spoke. "I know... But maybe I could have guessed... or something?" She said foolishly, sounding like an idiot. Well, she sounded like an idiot to herself, anyway. But this time, she kept her eyes on him, wondering what he was going to say to her words after that. She saw him nod, although he was still playing with her hand -which was now partially trembling - and just noticed that he had turned it over and started tracing the lines with his index finger. A small smile was nicely placed on her face as she watched him do that, it almost seemed like he was keeping himself amused... with her hand, and not even in the sick way. She tilted her head to the side, glancing back up at his face as he mumbled that. She laughed. "Talon, honestly, I'm not asking you if you have a girlfriend, so it's nothing... more personal. It'll just be something more like... best memory, favorite color, favorite animal..." She trailed off, partially babbling. She finally stopped herself. "Oops, sorry. I was babbling." She looked at him, although he was unquestionably caught up with playing with her hand. She looked the other way, but then heard him speak, and surprisingly, without even looking at him, she could tell he was smiling. "Well, I'm glad I came to the right place, then."

After regaining his self control, meaning his trust in himself that he wasn’t going to lunge at her and sink his teeth into the soft flesh of her neck… he shook his head, trying to shake the thought from his mind. ‘Bad Talon. Bad!’ he scolded, chuckling both at how immature that sounded and also at how ironic it actually was that people confused the two names. They were very closely related, so it was completely understandable, even if the two looked nothing alike. It wasn’t possible for them to look exactly alike: One had blue eyes, and the other would have eyes that matched his own that faded to black when her thirst grew. He cracked opened one of his eyes to look at her, inspecting her reaction to the sudden realization that, yes, he was offering to change her. She seemed a little surprised, or confused, or maybe taken-aback, by the suggestion, and she came up with three surprisingly good reasons why he shouldn’t change her. The treaty question almost made him frown, but he answered anyways. “Yes, Anna, the treaty makes it so that we’d have to go a long ways away.” He grinned ruefully when she said that he’d be stuck with her for a very long time if he changed her, and he rolled his eyes, the action only visible in the one eye he had opened. “Eternity, actually. And I’m aware that there’d be a chance of killing you. There’s a chance of me killing you right now, but that doesn’t bother you, does it?” Closing his eyes again, he sighed, now blocking the images that sprang to mind; Anna dead. Blood on his hands and down his throat. Her blood. Talon once again wanted to hit himself in the head, to make himself thinking suck things. Why the hell was he being so pessimistic? There was no way he could really be that pessimistic, when he wasn’t even going to change her! It had just been an option that he’d laid out on the table.
Sighing, Talon blew a breath in her direction, raising a brow at the way she phrased the question. She was never going to grow up? … When the voice in his head didn’t say anything, the right corner of his lips tugged upwards in a smirk. ‘Thank God!’ Anyways, but if she said that she was never going to grow up, than that meant that she was planning, no, determined on becoming a vampire. For some reason, he had mixed feelings about this. On one hand, it irked him that she was so willing to trade in her humanity to be a vampire, having to live her life in hiding while in plain sight, while on the other hand he was pleased to hear that she had no objections about the possibility of one day being a vampire. Maybe that meant that he wouldn’t have to be alone and that definitely meant that he wouldn’t have to torture himself to be with her. Chuckling under his breath, he opened his eyes to give her a look like ‘where’d that come from?’’ “A staring contest? That was… random, I think is the word I’m looking for? But if you say you’re going to challenge me to a staring contest, then you’re going to challenge me to a staring contest. It just might be a while before you actually win.” His tone was teasing, and his golden eyes looked curiously at the finger pointed at him.
With an apologetic smile, he shrugged, his way of saying ‘don’t’ ask, it’s complicated.’ He hadn’t meant to growl at her, and now the vampire felt very bad about that. Heh, imagine that. A vampire feeling bad about growling and glaring at someone. Damn the little voice in his head- he knew it was his own voice, but Talon liked to think of it as someone else’s, it made it easier to be annoyed with- that answered questions, and made him answer them too.
The words that came from Anna’s mouth weren’t as foreign sounding as he’d heard, and by the time she was done he was inwardly beaming, but outwardly he was totally serious. Clapping when she was finished, he nodded his approval, mainly because she seemed unsure of how she did. “I could actually understand that! So much better than the tourists who didn’t even bother to learn the language. It was hilarious to see their reaction when you finally let them know that you knew English.” Oh, yes, tourists were always fun to mess with. Too bad Forks never got any.
Glancing at her hair at the comment that there might be something else stuck in it, he started to answer, instead taking in a sharp breath through his teeth when the scent from her simple action of shaking her head hit him. Forcing himself to concentrate, and to breathe, he smiled. “Did you want me to tell you that there was a leaf tangled in your hair or something? Because if you do, I can’t. It was only the one twig. Nothing more, nothing less.” Tilting his head to the side, honey eyes looked at her curiously for a second before blinking once in understanding. “It takes me just as many steps to get from point A to point B as it would take you. My steps are just quicker.” he pointed out, momentarily debating patting her on the head for the lack of that knowledge. She had a vampire friend, after all, so shouldn’t she already know that? Deciding against it for fear that she’d try and swat his hand away, the end result of the action probably ending with her hurting herself, he instead went for shaking his head in disbelief that she didn’t know that simple fact. Maybe the smelling people thing was only a vampire thing, he decided, when she informed him that normal people didn’t smell themselves. It wasn’t like a vampire could just turn off their senses, though at times that would be the most helpful thing in the world. “And knowing you use green apple shampoo explains a little bit.” Well, it did explain why she smelled like clean rain (everyone in Forks had to have the scent of rain burned into their skin from how much it rained here) and apples. How could he not notice her blush when he started playing with her fingers? The smell was so strong that looking down to cover it up was like trying to put a blanket over an elephant to hide it, so he chuckled quietly at her attempt.
It wasn’t very hard to listen to her. If he had the choice of listening to the teachers drone on day after day or listening to Anna talk for the entire day, the vampire would choose Anna without even thinking about it. Still tracing the lines on her hand, he shrugged when she trailed off; naming everything she wanted to ask him. There was no point in him trying to think of a response to the questions, because his mind would register the question and just shoot back the truthful answer in no time at all. There was no need for him to encourage her to ask questions, because the inquiry of the human mind knows no limit, and can only be suppressed for a short while. She was probably dying of curiosity right about now. tagged>> annabelle and tj word count>> 1241 thinking>>maroon italics talking>> maroon bold listening to>> “in the end” linkin park

Zoned out... Zoned out... Suddenly she heard a chuckle and she looked over to Talon, who, appeared to be smiling, and... laughing. But what had she said last? She couldn't remember... Oh, wait, yeah, ironic -- names, right! She let out a laugh of relief, and then stood up for a quick moment, feet aching, and slightly pulled up her pants before laying on her stomach, one hand as a prop for her head. The sun felt nice on her back, something knew for a change, it was Forks, after all. She watched his expressions as suddenly he opened one eye to look at her. She raised an eyebrow as he spoke. Treaty... far away... The word 'we'd' slightly got to her. Would she go with him? Well, to be honest, she'd probably go anywhere with him. She looked down at the ground, hiding a sudden grin. "Eternity," she repeated, seeing how it would sound. "You almost sound like you want to spend eternity with me....?" She said almost as though she was teasing, the smile noticeable in her voice although she kept her head hung, hiding the smile. She now picked her head up, looking him in the eyes as he said that there was a chance of him killing her right now. She tilted her head to the side and remained silent as she stared right into them, searching to find something... something that might tell her that he would kill her. Nothing, not even a tinge of it, but then again, she didn't exactly have the senses they do. Wait, was she crazy? Looking into someones eyes for an answer... No, it works with her dad, and then he doesn't even have to answer her questions. "I...." She said, still looking in his eyes. "I.... don't think you will. But...." She stuttered again. "But... Either way, I'm not scared of you. And I'm not scared of death if it's caused by you... either."
Staring contest? Where the hell did that come from? She asked herself, kind of feeling stupid. But this is how she was, always blurting out random stuff from know where, always wandering off and zoning out to her own little world. It made everything so much easier. But then she heard his chuckle, the one she was finally getting used to, and the pressure on her shoulders was relieved. But when she met his eyes, he was giving her the same look most people gave her. the where-did-that-come-from look that she'd be giving herself if she was looking at a mirror, too. She shrugged in response, smiling. "Yeah... Random would be the word to use. That's how I get annoying." She explained, not looking at him, slightly scared to see his reactions. "I have these tiny outbursts of random thought, except their quite frequent, some people find it stupid, and others find it annoying." She said, still not meeting his eyes. A smile was suddenly plastered on her face as she looked back at him. "I never said I was going to win," She pointed out in a teasing voice. "I said that I was going to challenge you. You never know, I might do something that will make you blink." A grin now took place of her smile, tilting her head to the side, she laughed.
She saw the apologetic smile she gave him and the expression that was clearly pointing out not to go there. It was like a large billboard saying "DON'T ASK!", so she decided to stay away from that subject. "It's okay,"She encouraged, giving him a reassuring smile. Anna looked at him, still quite confused as to whether or not she said it right. It had been so long... But then he started clapping. She looked at him, an eyebrow raised in question, but then he nodded and she smiled in return. "I was one of those tourists when I went to China. The person waited about an hour of watching me look through the translation book, and pronouncing it wrong, until she finally told me she spoke english, and she spoke good english." Anna laughed, it was one of those memorys that you thought you'd always hate to remember, but now you look back on it and laugh at your own stupidity.
Anna noticed his quick glance at her hair, although it was fast, she'd been watching his expressions very closely. "Well, that would have made it a little less embarassing right now." She said with a smile. "I guess that's good that there's nothing else, then." She said, her eyes curious, although she knew that he wasn't lying, he couldn't be lying. There was slight silence that fell across the clearing, and Anna began to look around. Suddenly, her head looked back at Talon when he started to speak again. She cracked a smile, looking at him shaking her head. "I know, but to human eyes, they seem like short steps, and we can only see your feet touch the ground a couple of times, the rest is blurry. Well, for me, at least." She said, half-smiling. Green apple shampoo was always her favorite, mainly because she loves fruit so much... But her mind led to asking herself what she smelt like to him, well, if green apples explained a bit, then what was the rest? She frowned, scared that she smelled like something bad. "Really. So, what exactly do I smell like, then?" She asked as her eyes pulled toward him looking down. And there she thought that she was the one who had to look away.
